See, we don’t seem to be very good at staying in the same place for long. After growing up in the same house for the first 20 years of my life, I’ve now lived 6 different homes in 3 different countries in the last 5 years. Right now we live in Perth
, Western Australia – before this we lived in Melbourne
, and before that in New Zealand
(with a 3 month stint in Pasadena, California
also thrown in there for good measure). We’ve been in Perth for 2 years now… and we’re getting restless.
Hubby (I’ll refer to him as S. from now on) has 18 months left on his PhD, and then we’ll be free to move on. So where to? Right now we’re thinking about heading to the US again. For reasons unknown, we both really like it there – maybe it’s because we met whilst working at a ski resort in Colorado
. Hopefully when S. finishes his PhD he’ll either be able to get a position at a US university, or he’ll be able convince a company there to hire him! We’re planning on starting our family in the next year or two and what better gift to give them but US citizenship?
Other options on the cards include Europe (London
, Berlin
… we’re not sure where) or heading back to Melbourne (we love it there). I’d love go back to New Zealand and be closer to my family, but realistically the job options just aren’t there for S. (boo hoo)… job options for S. are what will ultimately determine our next destination.
My pick? San Francisco
. It’s nice to have something to aim for – and why not aim big, right? Watch this space...
